Gitman Vintage Spring/Summer 2012 shirts

Pennsylvania based shirt makers Gitman Bros. have delivered some of their latest pieces for this Summer at End Clothing, and once again the range doesn’t disappoint. Featuring Gitman’s ever-popular mix of bold prints, premium materials and considered silhouettes, it’s another collection of eminently wearable shirts.

Like their previous collections, this one has also seen a return to the companies rich archive, blowing the dust off old line-books and revitalising designs and prints in the process. As you’d expect from a company founded in 1948, traditional shirting provides the backbone with a range of simple cotton and over-dyed Oxford shirts in a range of tasteful hues.

The highlight of this are two classics; the Poplin Gingham and Seersucker Stripe shirts; both of which would prove a great addition to anyone’s wardrobe. Prints are equally represented, with both the Bandana Print and Floral Print shirts featuring an unashamedly bold use of pattern, which although eye-catching, are certainly well suited to this slimmer silhouette.

Another rather bold shirt is the Tennis Print Shirt. It’s constructed from premium cotton and bears all the hallmarks of a classic Gitman design with its box pleat, chalk buttons, locker loop and of course a simple, yet strong pattern. The label also leant heavily upon archive line drawings from 1985 for this season, with two separate ranges developing from them; the Stripe 1985 and the Madras 1985.

Constructed from lightweight Madras Check cotton, the Madras 1985 shirt is available in a subtle white/blue as well as the brighter (some might say more adventurous even) navy/orange, with both colours working effortlessly, giving you the perfect Summer shirt.
