Here’s the latest collection from Nottingham’s Universal Works. This Spring/Summer 2014 collection is said to capture the optimism and joy of a first trip overseas, and as such is chock full of print and splashes of colour.

The collection stays very much within Universal Work’s already defined aesthetic – modern takes on workwear and casual tailoring sits alongside cargo pants and lightweight technical outerwear. Washed blazers and slim trousers create a youthful edge to traditional Italian suiting and boxy shirts feature bright tropical prints.

The whole collection revolves around the melding of traditional wardrobe staples with holiday clothes and finds from local shops to create a mix of fabrics, textures and prints that looks completely modern. Bomber jackets give a modern sporty edge and strong coloured shorts leave you in no doubt what season the collection is for. Finally, lightweight knitwear and a selection of casual footwear fishing things off.

Strong collection that – the bakers teamed with shorts and a stripey top is ace and the lightweight jackets look very interesting.
