London Collections: Men – Baartmans & Seigel Autumn/Winter 2014 collection

January 10, 2014

Held in the amazing space that is the Elms Lester Painting Rooms (although the stairs were a bit precarious) the presentation of Baartmans and Siegel’s Autumn/Winter collection was a moody affair and one that was full of clashing elements whilst still being fully coherent.

Drawing its inspiration from isolated and challenging arctic landscapes, the collection was a merging of differing styles with a range that juxtaposed performance outerwear with tailoring, technicality with luxurious detailing and man-made fibres with natural fabrics. The cold climates of their inspiration has also been interpreted though the myriad tonal blues which dominated the collection and sat alongside black, grey and hints of red.

Outerwear has become a defining aesthetic of the designers, and this has lead to an exclusive collaboration with Penfield. This capsule collection offers three refined performance coats, all featuring the best from both brands, with well-considered detailing like hidden seams and pockets, sharp tailoring and highest quality soft-shell outer layer and premium down insulation.

Elsewhere there were bomber jackets, coated-cotton car-coats, shell windbreakers and multi-fabric parkas all of which were refined, impeccably detailed and perfectly cut – a great collection of well thought out and executed Menswear.
