Peter Werth N1 project
Peter Werth the brand was born in Islington, N1 in1975 and has become synonymous with well made, good quality Men’s clothing. As a small celebration of this, the label’s N1 Project aims to embody the heart and essence of this North London borough with a series of images featuring proud locals.
Included in the short film and images are a fishmonger, puppeteer, barber and market stall owner. Each was shot at some of Islington’s most iconic locations, by the photographer Dean Rogers (who has previously worked with Shane Meadows on ‘This Is England’ and Anton Corbjin on ‘Control’ ) the label asked each of them what makes them proud to come from the place Peter Werth calls home.
The track that accompanies the film is an instrumental version of ‘Who Are You Trying To Fool’, performed by the Dave Hamilton Orchestra and written by Ann Bridgeforth, Rony Darrell and Dave Hamilton. The song was originally a huge Northern Soul hit back in the 1970s, when Peter Werth was launched and as such provides an apt soundtrack to the project.
