Here’s a look at the latest Spring/Summer 2013 collection from MA.STRUM, the partnership between designer Donrad Duncan and Massimo Osti Studio that’s been producing its own take on technical apparel for a few seasons now.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t so much a new range for Spring/Summer and more of a continuation of the core principals that guide the label, with technology, function, style and quality being the defining factors. Add some military inspiration and you’ve got a recipe for interesting and forward moving outerwear.

This season sees lightweight outerwear pieces like the ranger jacket, that can be folded up and packed into one of its pockets and the torch jacket’s (complete with actual torch) have been given a more military look. The palette consists of greys and mid-tone blues as the foundation of the range and these are punctuated with jackets in brighter shades of Isle green, coral and hike blue.

Fabrics include their signature face fabric – a Nylon poly, plain-weave with a waterproof membrane on the inside – a combination that provides breathability with great moisture wicking and comfort. Elsewhere there’s rip-stop parachute fabric (again with an internal waterproof membrane), woven jersey and knitwear.
