Aspesi Punch jacket

January 7, 2013

As I mentioned when I featured Aspesi’s latest collection for Autumn/Winter 2012 (find that here), I’ve recently got myself one of their excellent down jackets. Of all the versions available it was the Punch jacket that appealed the most, and I decided upon their rather nice dark green colourway.

I’d never given down jackets a thought in the past – there’s always a sea of them in Winter and the majority are awful things. This one however is different, for a start it’s totally devoid of any superfluous details and is a very restrained affair that actually looks really good on.

It’s a short jacket, quite fitted and features a pair of fully lined zip-fastening outer pockets with a further pair of interior pockets (one zip fastening, the other button). The jacket fastens with a zip and eight buttons, whilst the elasticated, ribbed cotton inner collar, hem and cuffs make sure the cold stays firmly on the outside.

The Polymide outer and down lining somehow makes the jacket warm when it’s cold, but at the same time doesn’t boil you to death when you’re on the tube. I don’t know how it does it, but it does. It’s been getting regular use on the colder Winter days and is certainly a great addition to my ever-growing collection of coats.
