Rohan Nightfall jacket

October 25, 2012

If you’re after a proper piece of outerwear to take care of you when it’s freezing outside then look no further than this, the Nightfall jacket from British outdoor specialists Rohan. This padded jacket is filled with premium European goose down with a measured fill power of 800+. In layman’s terms, it’s pretty much the best that’s commercially available and practical to use. It also results in a jacket that’s lightweight but incredibly warm and comfortable.

The outer shell is hard-wearing but remains lightweight (at only 28gsm), due to being constructed from polyamide with Rohan’s advanced, 20 wash Durable Water Repellency™ finish. It’s not water or rain proof as such, but does help to stop the down from getting damp.

Features include a large, insulated hood which adjusts with the brand’s One-Pull™ system for a close fit. It’s also completely removable, giving you the option to save weight when a hood isn’t called for. The full-length front zip features an anti-snag strip and fastens all the way up over the throat.

Two large front pockets are zipped and fleece lined to keep your hands warm whilst on the inside a large zip-fastening pocket offers plenty of storage capacity and doubles as a Packpocket™ into which the whole jacket packs for convenient stowage and transportation. Finally the hem adjusts with easy-grab puller to fine-tune the fit and seal in the warmth.

I’m on the lookout for a new Rohan jacket but can’t decide between technical or something more formal.
