Ashdown Workshop Co. iPhone cases

June 19, 2012

I featured this new start up brand a couple of weeks ago with a general look at their products (find that here), now I though it’d be good to take a closer look at one of their latest accessories – these iPhone cases, designed specifically for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

Made from a premium 5oz Madison shoulder veg-tanned leather all sourced locally in the UK, the cases are available in two colours –  Almond (available in either a natural finish or hand polished at a slight price increase) or Cashew. Over time the leather will age beautifully and uniquely with use, darkening in colour to produce a rich caramel brown patina.

All of Ashdown Workshop Co’s products are 100% handmade in their workshop located in Sussex, England.  No machines of any kind are used during the production process with the cases being hand cut with a half moon leather knife and then hand-stitched with Northern Irish linen thread (which itself is hand-waxed prior to stitching to add extra durability and life to the thread).

The edges of the leather are them specially treated to stop premature wearing, which adds a subtle sheen and darkening to the leather. Finally the cases are packaged in the brand’s very own hand-stamped cotton bag and gift box. For more info on the brand and its brilliant products go here: Ashdown Workshop Co.

“Too many times I passed over this site, and that was a blunder. I’m happy I will be back!”
