Lanvin – patent/suede trainers

June 1, 2012

If you were outraged by the rather expensive Dries Van Noten espadrilles I posted last week, you may want to look away now. These black beauties come from France’s Lanvin and are daft expensive, but pretty bloody excellent at the same time (in my book anyway).

As you’d expect (and demand at this price), they’re beautifully made and detailed. Premium suede adorns the upper with the toebox, ankle collar and heel all made from high quality patent leather. It creates a great contrast against the soft suede and also adds more durability, with the hard-wearing nature of patent being a great addition to the toe especially.

The sole is Lanvin’s own, the brand having in the past used the same unit as Commom Projects (and others) do. It’s chunkier than the previous version, but even so it balances perfectly with the upper and provides extra cushioning from pounding pavements. The grey stitch adds contrast and also matches the waxed laces which themselves thread through polished metal eyelets.

Whilst these won’t be making me turn away from my beloved CP’s I do think as ‘fashion’ trainers go they’re up there with the best. If you fancy a pair of these you can get your hands on them at Trés Bien Shop. If you’d like more information on the brand itself and to find other stockists, go to the website here: Lanvin.

I have had my eyes on Lanvin trainers for a few seasons now. They are fantastic but the price always puts me off…
