S.E.H Kelly Tour Jacket

March 16, 2012

S.E.H Kelly are a label that always seem busy designing and developing product. So it probably comes as no surprise that the guys have come up with yet another lovely new piece of outerwear. Well when I say new, I mean for this season, as the Tour Jacket actually first came out last Spring. However this year sees the garment tweaked and improved.

This new version of the tour jacket continues the theme of the recently released dry-wax mac, with a high-end pin-dot wool-cashmere collar sitting atop a practical and hard-wearing cotton body. The changes made for this season include tweaking the collar, adding a notch and top-button and adjusting the cuffs. Thanks to the handiwork of a new factory in North London it’s also better made than the last version – draping better and with a cleaner finish.

It’s a short, slightly boxy jacket with features that include a five-button placket, dual-use pockets on the front and an internal chest-height pocket with slim pencil compartment. Niftiest of all though are the internal shoulder straps, meaning it can be slung easily onto the back and worn like backpack. This saves the wearer lugging it around under-arm which is especially handy when cycling (hence the name).

Materials are once again an exclusively UK based affair – The cloths hail from West Yorkshire and Lancashire, with the large, tortoiseshell-coloured horn buttons coming from a factory in the Midlands. The attention to detail is (as you’d expect from the brnad) top notch and the run is small, with only eight of these cracking jackets available in the UK.

So as usual, to get your hands on one of these excellent coats, or for more information on the brand, go to the website here: S.E.H Kelly.

Looks cracking. The dry mac was a corking bit of kit but is pretty bloody nice too. Straps are cool. Clever buggers aren’t they.

I love what this brand do. The simplicity and integrity with which they put their garments together and the attention that goes into everything that they do.

The only negative is the small numbers they do things in, but that said there’s something great about owning an item very few others have.
