One Nine Zero Six Spring/Summer 2012 collection

March 14, 2012

Time for some more One Nine Zero Six on the blog with a look at their Spring/Summer 2012 collection which has now found its way into shops just in time for the arrival of the warm weather. Now in its third season the Gymphlex offshoot is getting better with each range and also gaining more stockists and quite a following too.

This season sees the luxury sporting feel built upon with the introduction of sporting ‘band’ prints and the original company slogan ‘Sportswear For Youth’ giving a nod to Gymphlex’s past, whilst being very much a contemporary interpretation. These ‘band’ prints come in the archive club colours of royal, emerald & amber, all of which are lovingly retrieved from the original Gymphlex colour chart and are immediately evoke a feeling of school sports day.

Fabrication plays an important part in the outerwear for this season and has been carefully selected to give a clean lined appearance to the pieces. Included in the selection are light weight waxed Poplins, L34 Ventile & Superdenim in a crisp colour palette of blues and whites. All are perfectly detailed and feature the signature white rubber buttons of the Gymphlex Archive.

Tailoring consists of unstructured blazers, in either cloth supplied by Fox Brothers or a thick double Jersey fabric in grey marl. Both versions are completed with shorts rather than trousers, for a more youthful English sense of style. To compliment this, a range of shirts is also present with luxurious sanforised cotton Oxford and lightweight cotton drill, alongside the more seasonal linen/cotton denim, laundered canvas stripes and plains in an array of colours.

Finally knitwear comes in super soft 5-Gauge cotton cut and sewn in a reverse purl construction and jersey wear consists of two-fold Pique, rib and single Jersey fabrics, all of which is locally knitted in Leicestershire and offered in gently oversized cuts in a complimentary colour palette of chalk, marine & grey mélange. So another season for this relative newcomer and yet another great collection.

Love this brand, a great combination of futurism and clean desgin but with a sense of earthiness and history to it, a rare combination, reminds me of a British counterpart to McNairy’s Woolrich stuff.

Excellent spread of clothing here, the jersey sports jacket is especially nice. I hope some of this finds its way stateside.
