Nigel Cabourn x Brady x Fox Brothers fishing satchel

December 28, 2011

Now this is a proper bag. Made by Nigel Cabourn in collaboration with renowned Midlands bag maker Brady and utilising a fantastic checked tweed fabric by Somerset based Fox Brothers to produce this cracking fishing satchel.

The bag is based upon Brady’s popular ‘Severn’ fishing bag, the largest fishing bag the company produces. Featuring a large main compartment with a fully waterproof rubberised liner and secured via a large flap, plus a pair of smaller press-stud fastening front pockets, with one featuring a string pouch it’s a capacious bag and one that’s built for function as well as looks.

The whole thing is fastened with a pair of premium bridal leather straps and there’s also a matching removable shoulder strap. The bag also receives more leather in the form of piping that runs along all of the compartment edges and adds further contrast to the lovely blue/grey tweed that the bag’s covered in. Produced in Brady’s Walsall factory, the whole thing is a fantastically crafted and very English affair.

If you think the bag’s exactly what you’re after it’s available now from Superdenim, where it’s now in the sale here: Nigel Cabourn x Brady x Fox Brothers fishing satchel.

£895 for a bag! Fucking hell, I’m in the wrong job.

At full price it’s bonkers, well to be fair the sale price is still steep. I reckon it’ll be reduced further soon though, which might make it a sales bargain.

EDIT: Nope, they’ve already sold out at 50% off.

Very nice but as ever with Cabourn the pricing can be heavy to say the least, one of my favourites A Few Fine Things can offer equal quality for a lot less:

I liked the Brady jacket. But again the RRP is to excessive for a Barber to afford.

It’s a very nice bag & one who’s quality is beyond repute, but the price for that is at a premium to say the least. Surely these don’t sell until the sales are on & they’re half price, which begs the question of why the RRP is so high in the first place?
