Finisterre Etobicoke jacket

November 22, 2011

Finisterre are a UK based outdoors label, situated in St. Agnes, Cornwall that’s been running for around seven years. It’s a small company with a team dedicated to producing technical performance clothing in an ethical and environmentally friendly way.

Here’s the company’s Etobicoke jacket, it’s a funny name for an excellent bit of kit – a proper piece of outerwear and one that you could go up mountains in if you fancied. The Etobicoke is your classic insulated jacket but with the added bonus of the ability to pack away into its own pocket and turn into a travel pillow.

The jacket provides maximum warmth for minimum weight and Finisterre have actually got sherpas at the bottom of Everest kitted out in them, so you know that these things work well for what they’re intended for. And if further proof of the labels faith in their product is needed then you’ll be pleased to know the jacket comes with a lifetime guarantee.

The jacket is constructed from a windproof and water resistant ripstop outer shell (which is 100% recycled and recyclable). Insulation comes from the primaloft eco synthetic insulation (100g/m2), with both the collar and pockets lined with Microfleece and everything is built around the jackets performance and durability.

The jacket is in its fifth year of refinement and now features reinforced hems and strengthened cuffs and pockets – it’s all about constantly improving the product they make and getting the best performance out of it. Modelled by champion around the world cyclist, James Bowthorpe who happens to be a Finisterre ambassador the Etobicoke is available in a range of four colours.

For more information on the company, to see the full range of outdoor clothing, or to find your nearest stockist, go to the website here: Finisterre.

I’ve got one of these & have had it for a couple of years now. My impressions are that you’d have to spend a lot more to get something as well made and performance orientated. Mine has looked after me on countless climbing trips & in all is a worth piece of outdoor clothing.
