Nigel Cabourn Autumn/Winter 2011

November 6, 2011

As Autumn/Winter collections have found their way into shops and onto shelves, End Clothing in Newcastle have taken delivery of some new Nigel Cabourn stock, including pieces from the excellent Eddie Bauer collection as well as items from the Japanese Mainline and British Authentic ranges. And in typical End fashion, select pieces have been shot beautifully for their blog.

The Bauer selection includes the Canadian vest, which features hand-filled Goose down padding, a waxed cotton twill outer and a detachable hood lined in Harris Tweed with a Coyote fur trim. The short Skyliner jacket, again with waxed cotton outer and Goose down padding, plus the additions of a Shearling collar and leather shoulder pad and yoke detailing.

Then there’s my favourite jacket in the collection, the US clip Geddes Jacket. I tried this on when I was at the Cabourn studio earlier this year (find that post here) and as with the other pieces it’s once again Goose down lined and fully waterproof but also features the Cabourn signature WWII clips plus contrast panels on the shoulders, yoke, pockets and the backs of the sleeves – it’s an absolute cracker of a jacket and one that’ll look after you all Winter long.

The mainline selection include the US clip jacket, which as with last season is made from slow woven jersey cotton and is one of my favourite Cabourn pieces, and there’s also a reissue of the original medical shirt. Authentic sees a restock of this season’s Fairisle knitwear, the Hunting jacket in either tan canvas or Harris Tweed (made with Fox brothers) and a great looking 1940’s influenced double breasted tweed jacket.

Everything is on End Clothing online shop now so if you like what you see and fancy splashing out, go to the website here: Nigel Cabourn Autumn/Winter 2011.

I clocked these late last week. Without taking price into consideration and purely on aesthetic terms. Apart from the ’40’s DB jacket which is okay. The rest is a bit – ‘meh’ for me.

I couldn’t agree less with The Greenwich Barber – this collection really does it for me.

Fucking hell, the clip jacket’s £645! For a sweatshirt! It’s still boss but that’s well steep.
