Duffer selvedge denim

October 25, 2011

Time for some more denim. The quest for decent quality denim at a decent price can often be hard, especially if you’re adding selvedge into the equation too. There are a few brands out there doing it though and now another to add to the list are Duffer.

Fitting in perfectly with the brands heavy influence by all things American, Varsity and casual, they have just brought out these five pocket, straight leg jeans in raw denim with a red line selvedge. They’ve gone to the trouble of making things like pockets different to everything else on the market, which considering they could have just made a generic Levis rip-off is nice to see.

And although the detailing isn’t the same s you’d find on a pair of high end Japanese denims, neither is the price – these come in at under fifty quid, which you have to admit isn’t bad going for selvedge jeans. I’d like to see more of these to know how they compare to UniQlo’s offering (which I think are some of the best cheap selvedge out there) but these must be worth a look.

As with all other Duffer stuff these are available from any JD sports and could prove great for the Winter months, for more information on the brand, go to the website here: Duffer of St.George.

I’m all for £50 selvedge but I would have rather seen a straight leg, five pocket offering – the detail is a little too g-star for my liking.

You will have to go a long way to beat the uniqlo in this part of the market.

Back pockets not doing it for you? I know what you mean and totally agree regarding UniQlo, their cheap selvedge takes some beating, especially with the breadth of sizes they do it in.

Gotta agree with you regards the Uniqlo denim. Don’t think they’re doing the “All made in Japan” jeans anymore but they were great in the raw version using Kaihara denim, same as some of the high end repo brands from Japan. Got a couple of pairs and they come in a 30 leg as well , result.
The Duffer jeans are alright and not bad money but probably aimed more at my teenage son and the pocket design reminds me of one of Garbstores jean styles.

I’ve got a couple of pairs of the early Japan Uniqlo’s as well (in a 30 leg too) and for the cash they’re really good. Think I might see what their offering’s like at the mo. I fancy some new jeans…
