Silas Autumn/Winter 2011 collection

September 2, 2011

Well what do you know, Silas are back (I’ll dig out my old T-shirts and jeans). The cult streetwear brand from the 1990’s that was started by Ben Sansbury, Lizzie Finn, Fergus Purcell, Clare Shilland, Will Sweeney and James Jarvis (remember the figures they did?) relocated to Japan a while back but is now firmly back in the United Kingdom and it’s great to see this cracking casual label here again.

With an eclectic collection of Japanese made garments and accessories, plus some collaborative pieces (shoes with George Cox and a jackets with Snugpak, with others to come) the label has morphed over its time away and where there was once graphic T-shirts and skate influenced apparel now we also find shirts, mac’s, cardigans and a small smattering of tailoring.

The skate influence is still there in abundance though and to further emphasise this the brand used Palace skateboards team member Charlie Young as one if their models and the shoot by Shaniqwa Jarvis features its fair share of on board action. The brand has spent time perfecting garments and there’s a real emphasis of using premium materials throughout the collection.

Stocked by Slam City Skates and soon to be opening their own London flagship shop, the label feels like it’s back to stay (and good that is too). For more information on the brand visit their website here: Silas.
