Marshall Artist Autumn/Winter 2011 collection

July 29, 2011

Founded over a decade ago in London, UK Menswear brand Marshall Artist have recently released their latest look book and it’s one that contains a wide and varied range of clothing for the Winter season. They’re a brand that I’ll admit to not knowing too much about, but I thought this was worth sharing. So here it is.

The collection stays true to what Marshall Artist say is their philosophy – the fusing of traditional construction methods with the foundations of classic styling to create garments that are both contemporary but still functional. It’s clothing that’s based on heritage sensibilities but it’s not actually ‘Heritage’, or at least it feels that way to me personally.

And the inspiration for all of this is taken from a wide variety of sources – from classic British sports, the great outdoors, traditional camping equipment, sailing, mountaineering, tailoring, Club House attire and vintage military & naval uniforms – so a broad range of influence but a range that’s quite closely knit at the same time.

And all of that translates garment wise into some interesting shirts, simple knitwear, loads of different denim styles and some nice accessories. The best stuff though is the outerwear and there’s a lot of it with parkas, anoraks, quilted jackets, Trench coats, denim workwear jackets, over shirts – just loads of really wearable pieces.

There’s elements of streetwear running through all of this too which I think helps it feel a bit more contemporary and with loads of pieces to pick and choose from, no doubt something to suit most. For more information on the brand, go to the website here: Marshall Artist.
