Joe Casely Hayford for John Lewis – cruise collection

July 8, 2011

A touch of the high street for a change today, with a look at English fashion designer Joe Casely Hayford’s collaboration with John Lewis. This, his ‘cruise collection’ comes just in time for the warm months and is a well thought out selection of lightweight Summer clothing.

This ongoing project between the award winning designer and your parent’s favorite department store is one that’s been producing some great garments since it began. Indeed, if you’ve never looked at the range it’s worth popping into your local John Lewis for a look, you might be pleasantly surprised by what you find.

This small capsule collection includes some great smart casual wear, with lightweight Italian blazers in either a blue and white stripe or navy blue (both with Corozo buttons), some rather natty shirting (pastel pink and a Liberty print), a simple striped T-shirt and a couple of new trouser styles – a pair of narrow fatigue pants and a pair of slim fitting chinos.

My favorite piece though is the seriously nice Merino wool shawl collar cardigan. The mix of waffle knit body with normal knitted placket, collar, cuffs and hem, plus the button fastening cotton pockets sewn on top looks great, and in my opinion it’s the absolute pick of the bunch.

Most of this is available now, so for more information or to buy any of it via John Lewis’ online store go here: Joe Casely Hayford for John Lewis.

Yeah, cardigan’s alright, seen it in store. So’s the button up jumper & the blazers. It’s pretty solid for a high street collection really & his Barbour stuff’s always good too.
