Nigel Cabourn shawl collar jacket

July 4, 2011

I’ve really liked what Nigel Cabourn has done with his Spring/Summer 2011 collection – there’s been some really interesting pieces, bonkers fabrications (the multi-check Cameraman for instance) and bits like this that seem to have been under the radar but work really well.

As with the linen jacket I featured a few weeks back, this shawl collar jacket is another example of what Cabourn does so well. Beautifully made from woven cotton with a lightweight construction, it’s been produced to be worn as either a light jacket or over shirt, depending on the weather and how you fancy wearing it.

Featuring a pair of front hand pockets and that small shawl collar, it’s a very simple, un-cluttered looking jacket, which when you figure in that big red and blue check is no doubt a good thing – the balance between pattern and detailing being spot on. And as with the linen jacket, this piece also has the removable metal shank buttons that have featured on a few garments from this season’s collection.

This particular example is available from Superdenim, and at the moment is in their sale, so if you like what you see and want to save yourself some money at the same time, pop over to their website here: Nigel Cabourn shawl collar jacket.
