F-Troupe Derby’s

April 6, 2011

Fine, so I admit it. I’ve got a problem with footwear. Mainly it involves me buying loads of it. And to add to the ever growing list I thought I’d get a nice pair of casual Derby’s for the summer from F-Troupe.

F-Troupe are a small, predominately Women’s shoe shop based on London’s Marshall Street. I walk past it everyday on the way to and from work and a few weeks ago noticed some rather nice Men’s shoes in the window. The pair that attracted my attention were actually the grain leather versions but on closer inspection it was the suede Derby’s from their Made in England range that I knew would be perfect for summer.

They are Northampton made, although in what factory isn’t clear. What is though is how nice they are – the Tobacco suede is a great shade, it’s light enough to give great contrast with dark denim but also deep enough to not be total dirt magnets like really light suede always is.

Then there’s that bright white wedge sole which contrasts beautifully with the upper and the natural leather welt – it’s not as massive as the Vibram version that Trickers and Grenson use but then it’s only flat EVA (so as per the McNairy’s are lethal on wet pavements) and will wear out much quicker (you get what you pay for). Still it looks nice and the shoes weigh next to nowt as a result.

Finally, the inner is also fully leather lined for added comfort and the laces are cord versions in a slightly lighter shade, all of which adds up to a great looking pair of casual shoes. They’re available in three colours, the tobacco’s I’ve got, a light sand and black. For more information on the brand go here: F-Troupe.
