Albam Ringsnap shirt

March 17, 2011

I really should have learned by now that me popping into a shop to just have a look round really doesn’t happen, I nearly always end up seeing something that takes my fancy and buying it. Which is what happened when I popped into Albam’s Beak Street store last week and happened upon their new striped ring snap shirts.

They’re based on Albam’s regular fitting block but for me they feel a bit of a slimmer cut, which is actually a good thing in my opinion, plus the arms are a good length, whereas I found the sleeves on the Artisan chambray a bit long (not by much but enough to mean i always roll the sleeves up when I wear it). I’m happy to say that isn’t the case here and the Ringsnap shirt fits perfectly.

And then on to the details. Firstly there’s the ringsnap press studs which make a nice change from your more regular buttons, and feature on both the placket and on the stud-down penny collar. The shirt is 100% cotton, with the fabric being woven in Japan and the shirt itself being made in Portugal, It’s a good weight too, being fairly light and perfect for when Spring finally gets itself here.

One of the most striking features is the selvedge on the chest pocket, which stands out brilliantly against the sky blue Bengal stripe. This detail is also continued on the side vents, which themselves are in a darker blue stripe, as are the internal elbow patches – which when you’ve got your sleeves rolled up creates a really nice contrast.

If you fancy one of these they’re now available in the shops or online here: Albam ring snap shirt.
