Kitsuné Autumn/Winter 2011

February 7, 2011

Even thought we’re not yet over this Winter, there’s already plenty of next Winter’s collections doing the rounds. The latest is from French label Kitsuné, who’s new Autumn/Winter 2011 collection is said to be a tribute to the Ang Lee film Brokeback Mountain, being inspired by “the west American style in the 60′s”.

Yet there’s not a cowboy boot in sight, with the collection being more of a modern and elegant form of outdoor clothing. Now it wouldn’t be Kitsuné with some prep chucked in and the mix of shirting, shawl collar cardigans and the odd blazer still keep this in the mix.

The emphasis is on layering and designer Masaya Kuroki has chosen some heavy pieces for this collection to reflect that – the suede worker style jacket, woolen hunter jackets, blazers made from Harris Tweed, plus the hooded parka all show an appreciation of keeping the element at bay. This is worn over a range of cotton shirting and some great pieces of knitwear. There’s also a mix of denim (from Kuroki) and also some brushed cotton chinos in the collection, not to mention a good line in accessories too.

Stand out pieces for me are all of the knitwear, which once again is bang on, especially the chunky grey shawl cardigan with the brown buttons in the third image. Sticking to that picture I also really like the jeans – great colour and I’ll be keeping an eye out for these when this collection starts to filter into stores. I’m quite taken with both of the tweed blazers too. All of the shirting looks good and if it’s anywhere near the quality of the gingham button-down I bought last year then it’ll all be spot on.

looks like the shawled collar look has another year in it then. Nice collection. Gives me some real good ideas for putting stuff together i already have in my wardrobe, which is always nice.

On a side note are they related to the Kitsune record label?

Bit too preppy for me, some bloody nice clobber mind and plenty I’d wear, just not all at once, like that.

Any idea what the shoes are in the shots?
