Bedouin Spring/Summer 2011

December 10, 2010

Yet more Spring/Summer 2011 offerings. However this time it’s bags and accessories. I’ve featured a couple of bags from Bedouins range in the past (their Mamluke overnight bag here and their Ottoman rucksack here) so I thought it’s be good to show the larger range too. There’s plenty here, from larger luggage pieces right through to small accessories like wallets.

As I’ve said before, all of Bedouin’s bags come with a lifetime warranty on workmanship for normal wear and tear, with the company’s mantra being: “buy quality, and buy it once!“ It’s this passion to make everything to the highest standards possible, using the best possible materials and fittings, plus the utmost levels of care and attention that marks the brand out amongst the competition.

In terms of materials, fabrics come from British suppliers and are specifically chosen for their quality, durability and feel. The leathers are sourced from either Europe or Britain and are all naturally tanned using only vegetable based tanning agents. Zips are made by riri and the buckles used come from AustriAlpin, with their Cobra buckles being used on several bags in the range.

I really like the whole collection but particularly fancy one to those ‘Medina’ totes in the fourth and fifth pictures. These are made from waxed British Millerain cotton canvas, with natural leather for the handles and trim. It’s closed via one of those Cobra buckles and comes in either black, khaki or tan and also has a selection of linings available. It’s the tan one that’s shown here and it’s great. By the look of it the company’s mantra easily rings true – the thing looks like it’ll last forever.

The wallets also caught my attention. With these Bedouin have taken the patterns used on their linings and hand embossed these intricate images into the outside of their leather wallets. This is then contrasted with solid (but striking) colours on the interior. I’m still on the lookout for a new wallet and these are on the list now too, especially the black version with that lush blue inside.

These bags are excellent. So well made and styled perfectly. I’ve been thinking about getting the Mamluke for a while now, although I’m yet to actually purchase one. Now that i’ve seen the wallets though I think I’ll get one of those to tide me over.

I’ve got to admit I’m a big fan of my Monocle x Porter bag too. Don’t think I’ll be giving it up in a hurry either.
